Programs

Region of Waterloo Museums have a variety of programs that are educational, hands-on, and fun. Programs will be listed here when they are confirmed as well as in our events calendar. 

Child and Youth Programs 

Region of Waterloo Museums offer a number of ongoing programs for children and youth of all ages. Check back often for dates and times.

 Tot's Time at Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum

teaching young kidsTuesdays and Thursdays, 10 to 11 a.m - This program is currently on hold due to COVID 19.

Join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays for an engaging program for children ages 2 to 5. Each week we choose a different theme. Your time will be filled with crafts, toy playing, story reading, and lots of learning games to help your little one grow.

Admission is $3 per child plus HST. Membership discount applies. All children must be accompanied by an adult. For visitors wishing to visit the museum galleries after the program ends, regular admission applies. 

Sensory Saturdays at Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum 

kids in museumSensory Saturdays is a program for families with children on the autism spectrum presented by Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum in collaboration with A Balanced Approach. This two-hour program offers a safe and understanding environment where children can enjoy regular hands-on activities in museum galleries as well as discover new themed activities each week. This program is an excellent networking opportunity for parents. program is currently on hold due to COVID 19.

 McDougall Cottage's Tea by the Grand Program

We invite you to join us for one of McDougall's ever-popular Teas by the Grand. There will be cucumber sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, and more. Teas begin at 11 a.m. unless otherwise noted.  Pre-registration is required.

$20 per person plus HST unless otherwise noted.

Adult Programs

Communal Bake Days
Baker holding paddleCommunity bake ovens were the information hubs of the past. Prepare your bread at home and bring it to us to bake in our wood-fired bake oven. Meet up with other bakers, share stories and recipes, or visit the Museum and gardens while your bread bakes. Call to reserve your spot as space is limited. Regular admission applies for Haus visits.
Seniors Days 
Seniors in the museumRegion of Waterloo Museums hold a number of Seniors' Days throughout the year, featuring free admission for ages 55+. Check back often for upcoming dates or keep an eye on our events calendar. 
Kitchen Ceilidh Program at McDougall Cottage Historic Site

Kitchen CeilidhThis program is currently on hold due to COVID. Please check back soon for upcoming dates or keep an eye on our events calendar.

The first Thursday of the month unless otherwise noted. Admission by cash donation. All are welcome to join us for a casual evening concert presented by talented local musicians and featuring traditional music, song and Scottish hospitality.
