Judging a Book by Its Cover: Let's Talk About Race
Dates: TBD

Offered to Grades 3 through 8.

Join Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum for a limited-time education program, Judging a Book by its Cover: Let's Talk About Race. This program dives into the topics of racism and prejudice and encourages students to ask frank questions so they can better understand its effects.

The program includes an in-depth conversation and question period with author Grace Ibrahima & local high school student Nicholas B. on racism and how it impacts physical and mental well-being, and thus why we need to foster inclusivity. We are also joined by special guests who sharing their own lived experiences, along with hands-on activities. In the past, we have been honoured to be joined by:

- Kam Cumberbatch, steel pan drummer

- HamGrady, spoken word artist

- Ken Daley, visual artist and illustrator, https://www.kendaleyart.com/

This program in 2025 was made possible through funding provided by the Canadian Race Relations Foundation.

This popular program costs $10 per student (no tax), with 1 free adult volunteer for every 6 students attending. Similar to our education programs, you can plan to have your class on-site for 120 minutes (2 hours).
