Education Festivals

Region of Waterloo Museums have many Education Festivals that take place throughout the year. 

Waterloo Wellington Children’s Groundwater Festival
Runs in May
A school program offering students Grade 2 to 5 'hands-on' groundwater education that is delivered through fun and engaging activities in an interactive way. General public welcome. For more information visit the Waterloo Wellington Children's Groundwater Festival website.

National Indigenous Day Peoples Festival
Runs in June
A school program that allows students to learn about the history and current realities of the Region’s First Nations, Métis and Inuit populations. Public are welcome to attend the daily closing Pow Wow at 1:15 p.m. In partnership with the Waterloo Region District School Board, Waterloo Catholic District School Board, and the Grand River Métis Council, this annual education program celebrates Indigenous culture over three days leading up to National Indigenous Peoples Day. 

First Peoples Festival
Runs in September
A school program that allows students to learn about the history and current realities of the Region's First Nations, Métis and Inuit populations. A three day educational festival presented in partnership with the local First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities and organizations. Dance, crafts, art, Elders and traditional teachings, current issues and more. General public are welcome to attend.

Forest Festival
Runs in October
The Forest Festival teaches grade 6 and 7 students several key messages; the importance of the Forest Life Zone, forest ecosystems, species at risk, stewardship and conservation and climate change through hands-on interactive activities.
