Travelling exhibition offers new perspective on our fragile planet

Waterloo Region – Region of Waterloo Museums are thrilled to announce the launch of Earth in Focus: Insights from Space, a special exhibition developed by the Canada Science and Technology Museum, one of three museums under Ingenium – Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation, in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency. This exciting travelling exhibit is set to open Saturday, October 21 at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum.

Featuring breathtaking photos taken from space, Earth in Focus offers visitors a truly remarkable perspective of our planet. Through visually striking videos and photos, this immersive exhibition demonstrates how data collected from space can help address global issues — such as feeding a growing population, keeping us safe from natural disasters, and protecting the environment.

Earth in Focus will provide visitors the opportunity to learn about Canada’s contributions to earth observation and discover how these amazing images contribute to our understanding of our rapidly changing planet. The exhibition highlights the essential role satellite imaging and space photography play in addressing global challenges.

“The Earth in Focus exhibit is an excellent opportunity and resource for our community to learn more about the world we live in and our environmental impact,” said Regional Councillor Doug Craig, Vice-Chair of the Planning & Works Committee. “These interactive installations give residents an opportunity to better understand the relationship we each have with our planet.”

Earth in Focus is produced by the Canada Science and Technology Museum in partnership with the Canadian Space Agency.

Earth in Focus opens Saturday, October 21 at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum.
Hours: Open Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
