Celebrate Thanksgiving Weekend at Region of Waterloo Museums
Waterloo Region – Join Region of Waterloo Museums this month for fun-filled Thanksgiving Weekend activities for all ages. Explore our three historic sites: Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum, McDougall Cottage and Schneider Haus, each offering fall-themed activities and engaging exhibits.
Friday, October 10
- 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Schneider Haus October PD Day Camp - Feathered Friends – (Schneider Haus – Kitchener). Come and learn about feathered friends in our own backyard with engaging bird-themed crafts and activities.
- 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – PD Day Camp: Museum Detectives - Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum – (Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum – Kitchener). Experience the thrill of investigative science and dive into a thrilling hands-on mystery where young detectives work together to solve a daring museum heist.
Saturday, October 11 to Monday, October 13
- 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – All Ages Oktoberfest – (Schneider Haus – Kitchener). Try a root beer tasting flight or a soft pretzel fresh from the oven! Enjoy backyard games and polka all afternoon!
- 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Thanksgiving Weekend at Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum – (Kitchener). Spend time with the family playing vintage board and video games, contribute to a Community Thankfulness Wall, and explore Inspiring NATURE, Inspired TECHNO and Dishevelling! Exhibits.
- 12 to 4 p.m. – Thanksgiving Weekend at McDougall Cottage – (Cambridge). Enjoy seasonal crafts, and explore our current exhibit. On Saturday and Sunday, the FRIENDS of Waterloo Region Museums will be serving up apple cider by donation.
Sunday, October 12
- 1 to 3 p.m. – Self-Guided tour of Vintage Black Canada : A Doon Village Introspection (Doon Heritage Village – Kitchener). Explore Vintage Black Canada: A Doon Village Introspection featuring photographs from the Vintage Black Canada archive curated by Aaron T. Francis.
Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum and Schneider Haus National Historic Site are both open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, October 13 for Thanksgiving Monday. McDougall Cottage is also open from 12 to 4 p.m.
For parents looking to keep kids entertained, the Schneider Haus Discovery Space will be open all weekend long (Friday to Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
